The FIFA World Cup 2014 (BRAZIL)…
Do you know what the world cup is?
Well if not the FIFA world cup or sometimes just called the World Cup is an international soccer/football competition contested by senior soccer teams from different countries around the world. The world cup started in 1930 and takes place once every four years. This year the world cup is taking place in Brazil.
This year the world has been full of surprises and it’s very hard to predict who is going to win, because the current champions (SPAIN) are already out of the competition. Which team are you supporting? This year unfortunately Japan was knocked out of the competition, but they tried their best and did you know that the Japanese supporters that went to Brazil to watch the Japanese team cleaned their stadium seats after watching the game. This amazed a lot of people around the world.

Thank you very much for let me join the Tohoku trip. As a participant with two of my sons, the experience inspired me to think more about recovery of Tohoku and gave a motivation to work with Tohoku people. In fact, we encountered sad moments whenever we went. I could not go through the sadness without communicative interaction with the participants.
What we have done to heighten our feeling to Tohoku was a volunteer work in Kobe. Have you heard of “The sunflower of Haruka?” Every year, since after the Great Hanshin Earthquake, Kobe volunteers have planted seeds of sunflower with the memory of a girl, Haruka, who lost her life. At this year, Tohoku people was with us and planted them together. It made us feel like we work together to overcome the sadness. As the sunflowers are planted in our neighborhood, it is possible to see the full bloom during this summer and it will bridge a gap between us.
As we will have twentieth memorial in Kobe and will have various kinds of memorial events, I would challenge more volunteer work with praying for the recovery of Tohoku area.

It has been two months since we went to Tohoku trip
Recently we don’t hear the news about disaster stricken area in Tohoku.
If we don’t pay attention to Tohoku, we may forget about Higashi Nihon Daishinsai.
If we don’t pay attention to Tohoku, we may forget about Higashi Nihon Daishinsai.
We will occasionally share some information or impression about Tohoku.
At first time I think “what we can do?”
When I put “Tohoku Shinsai Dekirukoto” and search on Internet, I could find a lot of websites.
I think that we can do many things even if we don’t go to Tohoku.
I will say about 4 things.
If we pay attention, when we go shopping at supermarket, we can do easily.
We can donate at some of convenience stores. I think it is already wonderful if we donate only 1 or 2 yen.
I think it is very good to share the news about Tohoku by using Facebook or LINE is also good.
Local people in Tohoku hope that “Never forget Tohoku!”
Let’s start from what we can do!
If you have a good information about Tohoku, please tell GNT team.

Update on the mango tree in SAJA
In December 2010, the first Kumon EIC Study Tour in Jakarta. Study Tour members visited SAJA (School of Street Children) and had a fun time with a lot of children. At that time, they planted 2 mango trees together.

In December 2013, Ken, Masa, Maza, Yuko and Mika visited SAJA and met Mr. Reinherd Hutabarat, who is the founder of SAJA, and some children. And now the mango tree has grown taller than the SAJA’s building. Unfortunately, one of the mango trees was cut down by a car accident. But one mango tree still there and keeps growing! We were very happy to see it. We hope EIC family can, one day, eat mangos with SAJA kids in the future.

'Love Chain Message' - Series
Hello everyone!
This is Maza from GNT office. We (GNT) are starting the series called 'Love Chain Message' which is to share messages from EIC Family member and also to find out how other members are doing too.
To start off we have invited Aiko (EIC 2001~2007) to share her message with everyone.
Thank you Aiko for your message. Please enjoy reading Aiko's message. :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello Everyone!
How are you doing? Hope everything is going well with you. :)
My name is Aiko. I was a member of Kumon English Immersion Camp office from 2001 to 2007.
I left Kumon office in 2008, and now living in Miyazaki.
In EIC2006, I made my Dream Poster. Actually it was a Camp Leader training. I acted one of participants in the group. I made it very seriously. In my Dream poster, I wrote :
“ My dream is to have a peaceful family. I hope many peaceful family are born all around the world”.
To tell the truth, I was single and I had no plan to have a family of my own at that time. After the camp finished, I put my dream poster on my room’s wall and looked at it every day. And then……after 2 years, I met my present partner and we are blessed with a baby boy.
Well, now I can say that 'Dream Poster' is really effective! When we can make the image clearly, it is input in our brain and we unconsciously changed our words and actions .
It’s like…WOW!
How is yours? What happened to you after making your dream poster? Now I am very confident to say peaceful world starts from a peaceful family. Because I think peace is in each of our “KOKORO”. Even it’s a very small action, everything is connected to making a peaceful world.
I am going to make my next Dream Poster......
Thank you everyone, and thank you Kumon English Immersion Camp in giving me the chance to learn this wonderful way. I hope everyone’s dream will come true so that this world will become a better place.
Big hug,
Aiko (Aiko Kawano) Kumon staff (2001-7) --> Tingli, Aiko wants to know about you!
