Hello, everyone. This is Tatsu from Global Network Team. How are you doing? We are getting busier and busier for English Immersion Camp 2012, but, we are looking forward to meeting new EIC participants in the camp. I want to share one great experience with you. I went to Mexico for 2 weeks and half to volunteer in the orphanage. Since I have been studying Spanish and want to work in Latin America, it was such an unforgettable and memorable experience.

Especially, I met many wonderful people in Mexico. Most of them can’t speak English and my Spanish ability is very poor, so, it was not easy for me to communicate with them. But, I tried “don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Let’s try communicating in Spanish!” I made lots of mistakes when I spoke Spanish, but, I tried to communicate in Spanish over and over! People in Mexico are very friendly and kind to listen to me. It was challenging, but, at the same time, very fun! Especially, my host mother and father helped me a lot to learn Spanish. They are like real my parents.

Also, I met many children in the orphanage. Unfortunately, they don’t have parents and were used to be addicted to drugs. In Mexico, drugs are serious problem. It is very easy for children to get drugs. They have to take trainings to get back to normal life. I played a lot with them and taught easy Japanese to them. They were very nice to me and taught me lots of Spanish. Even though they want to study in the school and play with other children, the reality is severe. I really hope they can learn many things in the orphanage and contribute to the society. Mexican life is one of the best memories I’ve ever had. I will study Spanish more and visit my host family again!
